String Quilts Times Two

String Quilts Times Two
For Mother- 57" x 66"
For Allison - 52" x 61"
Finished December 2020

Because I loved making Redemption so much, I decided to make two more string quilts for Allison & Mother for Christmas. Yes, I made them quilts last year, but I was making a Scrabble Quilt for Angela and thought I'd make them quilts as well.

A quilter has to quilt!

Allison's quilt used many of the scraps (Aqua, Teals, and Greys) from her Pinwheels Quilt with white sashing down the center strip and a grey backing.

Mother's quilt used off-white for the center strip, sage green, and celery. I used an off-white fabric for the backing.

Both quilts used the Quilt-As-You-Go method of quilting each block and then attaching with sashing strips. Another win to use up batting and fabric scraps.

Two more gifts completed and in the mail in time for Christmas.

Although these quilts were nice, I think Redemption is still the winner in the string quilt category. There is just something about that quilt. Maybe because it was my first string quilt or maybe it was because of the variety of scraps, but Redemption is still my favorite.

Every quilt tells a story. This is the story of trying to re-create the beauty of another quilt and make some Christmas gifts for family.

Every Quilt Tells A Story
Whether it is the fabrics chosen, the design, the colors, the occasion, the recipient, or the people I quilt with, every quilt tells a story. This blog captures in images and words what has been created for others and for my own home through the hum and stitching of my sewing machine.
