Zig Zag Aqua Runner and Matching Placemats

Aqua Table Runner & Placemats
Runner - 17" x 54"
For Tiffany

This was a fun dining room set to make.

We spent Christmas 2019 with Tiffany and Jimmy in Southern California.

She asked me to make her another table runner for her dining room. (My very first quilting project in 2017 was a grey table runner for Tiffany. She said she loved it and uses it on a regular basis.)

I've come a long way in my quilting journey since that first table runner.

I showed her the design for a Zig Zag Table Runner that I had been thinking of making one day. She liked it and asked that I add an extra square on each end, so the runner came into a point.

We enjoyed shopping for aqua and off-white fabrics that goes with her everyday dishes ~ particularly batiks. I had some fabrics in my stash that would complement the fabrics Tiffany chose.

I cut the squares into 5-inch squares. I did a SID stitch around each square.

Once I was through with the table runner, I asked Tiffany if she would like placemats with the extra fabric left over. She cheerfully said she would like that.

It was fun to use up some of my scrap batting and fabric. I've been trying to use up my scraps as I make them, so I store fewer scraps.

I did a crosshatch stitch on the placemats and SID around the rectangle scraps.

Every quilt tells a story. This is the story of making a table runner and matching placemats to complement my daughter's dining room.

Every Quilt Tells A Story
Whether it is the fabrics chosen, the design, the colors, the occasion, the recipient, or the people I quilt with, every quilt tells a story. This blog captures in images and words what has been created for others and for my own home through the hum and stitching of my sewing machine.
