It's time to sign my work

Growing up with an artist for a mother, and with a husband and kids who are also artists, I know how important it is to sign your work.

With all the quilts I've been making, I've decided to label my quilts. Although they aren't masterpieces by any stretch of the imagination, my skills are improving. It is now time to acknowledge myself as the maker.

I went to Etsy and began looking for quilt labels. I found the one shown and was even able to choose the font for the "signature." Most quilt labels will add the name of the recipient, the year made, and the purpose or reason for making the quilt so years down the road, the quilt can be traced back. This blog provides the who, the when, the why of my quilts. For now, I'm just going to add my label as my final stamp that the quilt is finished and going to its new home.

I also had labels made for smaller items I might make such as placements or runners.

Now comes the task of borrowing back my past quilts that have been gifted to family members so I can add my label to the finished quilts. I don't mind in the least visiting my quilts that have already been made.

Every quilt tells a story. This is the story of labeling my quilts.

Every Quilt Tells A Story
Whether it is the fabrics chosen, the design, the colors, the occasion, the recipient, or the people I quilt with, every quilt tells a story. This blog captures in images and words what has been created for others and for my own home through the hum and stitching of my sewing machine.
