A table runner for my sweet daughter

Springtime Table Runner
16" x 59"
For Tiffany
September 2020

I have made several table runners for Tiffany so I know the dimensions of her table. All of the other table runners were made by her request.

Tiffany likes to decorate for the seasons (with a wreath on the front door, and decor around the house) so I thought a table runner that would serve for Easter or springtime would be fitting.

I found some a charm pack (5" squares) that had flowers and butterflies that spoke "spring" to me. Some fat quarters in pastels rounded out my fabric selections.

From a pattern I saw online, that used various strip lengths but the same strip width, I put the table runner together.

After testing some of the fancy stitches on my machine, I was ready to add them to the quilting. It was a lot of fun seeing how the different stitches appeared by lengthening the stitches.

If I was to do this again, I would stitch the decorative stitches to the unquilted fabric. Although the stitching worked and looked nice, it wasn't really conducive to quilting the entire runner. But, it was fun to try it out.

I gifted this to her for her birthday this year.

Every quilt tells a story. This is the story of making a spring table runner for my sweet daughter and trying out the decorative stitches on my sewing machine.

Every Quilt Tells A Story
Whether it is the fabrics chosen, the design, the colors, the occasion, the recipient, or the people I quilt with, every quilt tells a story. This blog captures in images and words what has been created for others and for my own home through the hum and stitching of my sewing machine.
