And another one so no one is left out

Black & Grey Values Quilt
55" x 75"
Made and Gifted - December 2019
For Stephen

I thought I had finished Operation Christmas Quilts 2019 when I completed Mother's Bed Runner and pillow shams.

I was talking with my sister Allison who asked if I had made a quilt for Stephen. To which I responded that I didn't think he would want a quilt.

After her encouragement that Stephen would appreciate a quilt too, I decided to add one more quilt to my Christmas gift giving.

Oh, what colors and what design should I do for Stephen?

His apartment is very modern and classy. I decided to make something with greys and blacks. I found some patterns of different ways of laying out half-square triangles. So, this was the pattern I would use.

I divided the fabrics into light, medium, and dark and focused on matching lights and darks together which determined who I would lay them out for the final design.

I loved how this quilt turned out with the contrast of the lights and darks. I will definitely use this pattern layout for another quilt down the road.

Block Pattern

For the quilting, I did SID around each darker triangle.

Operation Christmas Quilt 2019 has now been completed!!!

Every quilt tells a story. This is the story of making one more quilt for Christmas so no one is left out and finding a new quilt block for half-square triangles.

Every Quilt Tells A Story
Whether it is the fabrics chosen, the design, the colors, the occasion, the recipient, or the people I quilt with, every quilt tells a story. This blog captures in images and words what has been created for others and for my own home through the hum and stitching of my sewing machine.
