Moving beyond table runners -Making my first real quilt

Ombre Quilt for Tiffany
70" x 50"
Completed and Gifted December 2018

I saw a quilt on Pinterest with white and greys using Half-Square Triangles. I think I'm ready to tackle a lap size quilt.

Nancy had a Ombre blue & white quilt that seemed perfect to emulate using white and grey half-square triangles for my next gift.

Nancy and I went to my new favorite place to see beautiful quilts - Alden Lane Nursey in Livermore, CA and met Jennifer Sampou, a fabric designer.  I spent a lot of time at her booth picking up beautiful grey fabrics.

With this quilt, I learned about bias edges. Nancy has taught me about nesting my seams and I did relatively well matching my corners.

This was lovingly sewn for Tiffany and quilted on the diagonal. I think it will go nicely in her home that is filled with whites, greys, and vintage finds.

I was able to deliver this personally to my Sweet Tiffany for Christmas when we visited with her and her husband.

This year was a special Christmas celebration as we recognized Spencer's graduation from Biola University a few days earlier.

Every quilt tells a story. This is the story of moving beyond table runners and making my first real quilt.

Every Quilt Tells a Story
Whether it is the fabrics chosen, the design, the colors, the occasion, the recipient, or the people I quilt with, every quilt tells a story. This blog captures in images and words what has been created through the hum and stitching of my sewing machine.
