I'm enjoying my new quilting hobby and have decided to sew my Christmas gifts this year.
Allison loves aqua/teal. I chose the colors for this table runner to go with her décor. Living in the mountains, she has a lot of rough wood in her dining room so I chose rust as the complementary color. These colors will go well with the the rust & gold leaf hanging over her fireplace and the teal "message trees" hanging on the wall near her table.
I found the disappearing nine-patch pattern and thought I'd give that a try. There was something liberating about sewing together the squares and then cutting them in half lengthwise and crosswise to make something more complex. As quilters say, "There is great enjoyment in cutting fabric and then sewing it back together again as something new."
As a novice quilter, this pattern made me feel like I was quilting something special for my very special sister.
Nancy has encouraged me to hand-bind my quilts. She was correct when she said that it was relaxing to do hand sewing.
Every quilt tells a story. This is the story of making a teal table runner using a disappearing nine patch pattern.
Every Quilt Tells a Story
Whether it is the fabrics chosen, the design, the colors, the occasion, the recipient, or the people I quilt with, every quilt tells a story. This blog captures in images and words what has been created through the hum and stitching of my sewing machine.
